Extension and refurbishment of existing detached garage to form a granny annexe
Mark Lee, partner at One 17 Architects and Interior Designers designed this annexe for his mum Pat to provide a space where she can live independently, but is of a manageable size and can be further adapted to suit her needs in the future.
The one bedroomed ‘pad’ incorporates an entrance, lounge dining and kitchen on one level with bathroom, bedroom and lots of storage at first floor over the original double garage. The staircase has been designed so that it can be easily removed and replaced with a small platform lift if required in the future
The entrance incorporates an overhanging south facing roof which doubles as a seating veranda. A large bespoke steel planter filled with lavender acts as a retaining structure and greets visitors with welcoming scents.
