A three bedroom contemporary low energy house used as a second home and holiday-let

The brief was to design a three-bedroom contemporary, minimalist house.

Ispoyntel is a low energy three-bedroom house on a secluded site in St Ives with just one distant vista out to sea.

The house's layout was designed around the principle of making this view available from the living area which dictated the layout and resulting plan.

The site constraints dictated that this house should be low profile. The client dictated it should be crisp, modern and minimal.

The minimal design is deliberate to create a relaxing, contemplative and comfortable home to stay. There are lots of built in storage cupboards in each room to make it easy to avoid clutter. The appearance of the proposed house is a one-off design that is specific to this site.

The building despite being low budget and employing few renewable add-ons is orientated with glazing for passive gains.
