A small garden room constructed with an exposed structure of chunky larch timbers

The team designed the building meticulously as a giant piece of furniture, planning every joinery detail with great care. The project was designed and built by BAT Studio, all the components were prepared in BAT Studio's workshop in Walthamstow before being assembled on site.

The external larch structure was charred and then sealed with tung oil. This is carefully aligned to conceal the sliding door frame. Internally the lighting is concealed behind frosted panels with brass details, at the sides of the room. The storage wall includes a 'draw' which can be removed and becomes the desk.

This project was fortunately completed prior to the pandemic, providing the family with much needed extra space to work at home.
