A replacement extension to an Edwardian semi-detached house in North London
Adam and Stella have a lovely garden. They also have a lovely house. Unfortunately, between the two was an ill-conceived 1970s kitchen extension that had seen better days.
The simple proposal was for a new full width, brick extension which opened up views to the garden and allowed natural light to penetrate into the inner rooms.
High performance glazing was used to minimise heat loss through the north facing elevation whilst roof lights provided a means of getting even more natural light into those inner rooms. Ash was sourced for the joinery and interior cladding direct from a sustainably managed woodland in Cumbria.
