A two-story extension to a detached house in Beaconsfield
The extension spreads sideways and at the rear of the property
Clad in stained larch timber, the new wing follows the existing pitch of the roof and adds an extra volume to the spacious garden. The existing brick façades of the house have been painted to offset and compliment the dark timber cladding that wraps the extension whilst creating an interesting visual link between the existing house and the new wing.
Giving a new lease of life to the existing dwelling culminated in a double height void above the dinning area offering a formal sense to the space. Additionally the timber strip cladding pattern is reflected in the interior refurbished staircase balustrade.
Designed around the family’s needs for interconnected spaces, the open plan layout links the kitchen, dining, study and children's play area; all offering unobstructed views of the garden, thus extending the indoor spaces outwards and vice versa.
