This is a small rear extension, with alterations to rear garden, to an existing maisonette for a couple who were engaged in the development of the project design, the concept and detail development of the project
The extension provides a much needed retreat room for the client (well-known chef That Hungry Chef) and his partner. It also extends the garden inwards to become an integral part of the room
It provides space for film projection as well as a quite Sunday morning reading retreat. The proposal is a fully concrete with exposed concrete wall, floor and ceiling with playful steel beams celebrating the site geometry. The inspiration of the extension in its proportions, colours and artifacts is a hybrid between 'Persian Gardens' and Iindian interiors. The proposed garden decking roof creates a direct access from the sitting room to the rear garden.
