A rear garden extension and converting existing dining and re-placing the existing kitchen and dining room providing direct link to the garden
The existing ground floor was typically formed of small spaces with small windows. The family required an open space that connected to the garden where kids can dance and play and family can enjoy a simple space with plenty of light and view.
The client users and the children were well engaged in the initial design concept and further internal changes to adjust the spaces Creating a visual connection between the existing hall way and the garden. The extension re-uses some of the existing brick work from the demolition of the rear facade forming structural support for the new roof made of steel structure and timber joists. Concrete floor and screed with wooden floor provides comfortable floor for the family and kids.
Windows are carefully proportioned to provide visual access for the children and maximize the view of the garden. The structural columns are exposed making visual connection with the external trees and placing emphasis on horizontal and vertical lines of the space. The external garden decking will extend the internal space to garden and will allow the family to use the garden and the new space as a collective social space.
