Hansler Road

The utility and wc were zoned in the mid section of the property so that the kitchen and garden room could become the grown up entertaining space that could be kept tidy at all times. All materials were chosen for their natural beauty and aesthetic and therefore the natural product itself creates the aesthetic of the space. No paints were used in the kitchen extension or garden room making for a very warm and tactile environment.

The garden room and extension were to be linked in terms of quality and materiality we wanted there to be a connection between the two so that the garden room became an extension of the house. When standing in each area looking out you get the same aesthetic and quality of material from both views. The garden marble arrangement is the opposite to the kitchen in terms of colour and patination.

Both spaces join together to form extra multifunctional space for a young family that needs adaptability within the design as they grow together as a family unit. The family have 3 children so it was important the spaces created could adapt as the family develops within the house. The garden room can function as both a bar and entertaining space for the adults along with a gym / office / homework area for the kids when the space is required.
