Warwick Park is the extension and reconfiguration of an existing 1960's chalet bungalow in the Royal Tunbridge Wells conservation area

The project involved removing the existing roof and loft rooms and adding a whole new first floor of accommodation together with a two-storey side extension and internal re-organisation. The resulting asymmetrical pitched roof form is over-clad with charred Accoya in order to create a simple coherent form that sits comfortably in the sensitive setting.

The re-organisation of the existing ground floor is centred around the introduction of a generous double height entrance hall and repositioning the stair. These interventions create a pivoting circulation space, full of natural light, that help facilitate busy family life. There are three inter-connecting spaces at the rear (kitchen, dining & reception) that combine to create an open-plan family zone, which opens out on to the garden. Various smaller spaces are located towards the front of the house where family members can retreat into more cellular activities.

Up stairs there are four bedrooms and a family bathroom within the footprint of the existing building. Each bedroom has a vaulted ceiling adding to a sense of space and individual character. The upper floor extension contains a master bedroom suite accessed over the double height entrance via a small gallery. The project has won a Royal Tunbridge Wells Civic Society Award for 2019.
