The project was a full refurbishment and extension of a ground floor flat in Bermondsey, originally built in 1910 for railway workers.
The existing property was in poor condition and had suffered from a series of poorly constructed, ad-hoc alterations over the years.
The proposal sought to reconfigure the interior to make make better use of the existing footprint, as well as adding a new single-storey extension to the rear of the property.
The extension is constructed using concrete, brick, blockwork, steel, oak and birch plywood. In each instance, how that material is being used and how it is supported is showcased by the architecture.
