Alterations to Victorian stone villa
Sometimes it takes some time to get used to an idea. When we proposed the oversized stair window as part of converting these two flats back into one house; the clients must have thought we weren’t serious. We were. As part of reinstating the lost staircase, we took a 6m slot out the back of this Victorian stone villa.
The end result is unlike anything else. The scale is impressive, really showing off the high ceilings while allowing the light to flood into the bowels of the interior. The transformation has been dramatic. What was a closed and dark series of rooms are now opened up, better connected and renovated to a very high standard.
It’s the small details that set off the big ideas – subtle smoked oak, warm satin nickel and deep cosy carpets all create a comfortable and modern interior that sits harmoniously with the traditional scaled rooms and features.
