The Project is a mini 2 bedroom dwelling of 56m2 internal area, including a lofty live/work/play space.
Completed in August 2017 this new build project aimed to create a 2 bedroom house with maximum flexibility using minimum space. The result is a mini 2 bedroom dwelling of 56m2 internal area, including a lofty live/work/play space.
Located in Belfast, built by FAMILY Architects Belfast, the house transforms a brownfield site subject to anti-social behaviour into a place that the architects and neighbours confirm has attracted an almost constant flow of traffic, walkers and drivers to come to the end of the street to look, to talk about and to photograph.
With south facing passive thermal and Solar PV, the building is clad in black larch with black and yellow windows. The aesthetics merge the practice co-founders heritage from Northern Ireland and Sweden, embracing the maker culture of Belfast, creating their own tile range, wallpaper and furniture for the house, including Belfast Bluebell ceramic tiles, Yellow Box Wallpaper and CNC Notch table for the interior.
