Hill Barn
Extension to a barn conversion dating back to the last century
Located outside of Cheltenham on the top of Cleeve Hill the original house had 3 bedrooms and 2 reception rooms. The clients desperately needed additional space for their family and guests.
With small windows creating dark rooms and no connection to the outdoors, the house didn’t utilise the wonderful views.
A sloping site, lack of rear space and original Mansard roof created several challenges for the architects.
coombes : everitt architects delivered a contemporary two storey Cotswold stone extension - achieved by building forward and down.
The old kitchen became a master bedroom with views and en-suite. The new extension gave the client a fifth bedroom/study, a shower room, large utility room and spacious entrance hall with built in storage.
An open plan kitchen dinner, wrapped in glass, now provides a panoramic view across the Cotswolds.
Outside an external dining terrace wraps around the kitchen to catch the evening sun and provide entertainment space.
The client now has a home for their children, space for entertainment, open plan living and spectacular views.
