Refurbishment and extension of a residential project in South Wimbledon to create two new bedrooms including master bedroom and shower room.
The loft conversion to this residential property in South Wimbledon has created two new bedrooms including a master bedroom and a shower room.
The unusual form of the property and the fact that it was an end of terrace meant that adding a loft conversion would be complex, both in appeasing the planning department and avoiding the new mass being a very visible bolt on.
The solution involved hiding the main mass behind a newly extended front roof and extending roofs on the side of the property. A red zinc canopy and cladding aimed to match the red tones of the existing property, and work with material banding already visible on the external facade. A glazed corner reduces the feeling of mass and lightens the scheme.
