An extension and alterations to a Georgian terraced house in a conservation area
The brief for the project was to maintain the architectural character and detailing of the property while introducing modern elements that allow the house to function as a modern family home.
The design aimed to achieve this by reconfiguring and extending the lower ground floor to provide a kitchen and dining space that opens up to the garden. A glazed rooflight over the dining space allows natural light to penetrate deeper into the floor plan.
To increase the energy efficiency of the existing house wood fibre insulation has been fitted to the external walls, the windows have been refurbished and fitted with slimlite double glazed units and solar panels for hot water have been installed on the roof. This, along with, the addition of a third bedroom within the house has added significant value to the property.
