Pricegore has completed the first phase of a long-term campus strategy for Nottingham arts organisation, Primary.

The works to a Grade-II listed former Victorian school are conceived as gestures of welcome, strengthening the relationship between the organisation and the surrounding city, visitors, and residents. The latest phase of a long-term collaboration with Primary introduces a new public entrance through four new openings in the masonry walls, connecting the site directly to the street for the first time. New signage by Primary residents Joff + Ollie enhances visibility and accessibility. Planting in the dye garden enlivens the former playground, where a new outdoor workshop sits beside the blue timber façade of a 1960s annex. New steps double as seating for outdoor events. A new glazed entrance door to the Victorian building is sheltered by an oversized galvanised steel canopy, with entrance gates made from the same material. Inside, a refurbished hallway and reception desk lead to the main exhibition spaces housed in two generous, naturally lit former school halls. A new studio-kitchen, visible through a large internal window, features high ceilings, large sash windows, accessible counters and abundant storage—designed to feel relaxed and grand despite tight economic constraints. It supports events and day-to-day use for Primary’s residents. A new staircase, platform lift, automated doors, and new bathrooms fulfil Primary’s ambition to offer inclusive access throughout the building.
