Stephen Friedman Gallery Sculpture Garden
Founded in 1995, Stephen Friedman Gallery is a leading contemporary art dealership in London.
David Kohn Architects has collaborated with the gallery since 2009, leading its 2023 move to a larger space on Cork Street. The renovation created street-front galleries, offices, viewing rooms, and storage. At the rear, Cork Street Mews was transformed into a public sculpture garden with a pavilion by artist David Shrigley, featuring his signature humor in inscriptions. A blue timber terrace connects offices to the courtyard, while landscape architect Todd Longstaffe-Gowan designed a lush garden with 25 plant species. Hosting rotating exhibitions, the project showcases how overlooked urban spaces can become vibrant cultural retreats.
