The residence was designed for a couple looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The site, which is in close proximity to a town, is located at the edge of a lake surrounded by lush greenery.
The main requirement was home with little to no maintenanc
n which the client could grow old. The design that was implemented catered to framing the views from each space, thus forming an ever-changing atmosphere.
The cantilevered spaces helped to blur the distinct barrier between the indoors and the outdoors which helps to bring the surroundings into the spaces, forming a synthesis with nature.
The blend of traditional and modern architecture is visible throughout, this brings out the suspense of the future while still paying tribute to our past. The use of glass facades helps to maximise the views while also bringing in natural light and ventilation.
The orientation and placement were carefully designed to reduce the heat gain into the building. As the building is in an environmentally sensitive location, all existing foliage on-site was preserved and the design beautifully wraps around it, taking maximum advantage to provide a comfortable space for the user. The plunge pool was placed to seamlessly blend into the large water body, effortlessly borrowing nature as a backdrop for the project.
This architecture style is true to its materials, showcasing different textures which in turn creates various feels throughout the building. Lightweight materials like corrugated roofing sheets were also used for the cladding. The selected interior cladding was done to create a warm aesthetic against the thick greenery outdoor.
