Housing extension project in Winchester
Commissioned by two Winchester based doctors, the brief called for two additional bedrooms upstairs and a large open-plan family space with access and views to the beautiful garden at ground floor.
The solution was to create a large grey living box at ground level with a full height glazed opening elevation to create an uninterrupted view of the garden. The flush threshold and continuous floor surface enhance this connection by allowing the internal space to flow seamlessly to the outside area.
A western red cedar clad sleeping pod is perched above at first floor level with glazing that forms a series of vertical elements that celebrate the depth of the walls.
