Retro 1970s bungalow remodelled and transformed into a modern home
This 1970s bungalow with a dated exterior and interior with the usual repro stone cladding of its time. The old fashioned and unaltered internal spaces were restrictive, lacked light and did not embrace the full potential of the south facing garden.
The bungalow has been remodelled and transformed by Matt Maisuria Architects to a significant architectural gem within the locality. Embracing modern means of living and current desires of home owners, the architect took full advantage of the south facing orientation of the rear of the property and the existing unutilised form of the bungalow to create additional light filled living spaces.
Although limitations set by the planning department, prevented any significant changes to the bungalow's existing ridge height, the design was able to utilise the roof void for further internal habitable spaces including an additional large bedroom, study and a bathroom at first floor level.
