What if Parliament went to the street? What type of democracy would it represent?
Urban Radicals’ An Alternative Parliament for London reimagines civic space by placing four democratic platforms in the City’s streets, inviting public participation and discourse. Inspired by ancient assemblies, open-air forums, and everyday street life, the project critiques exclusive institutions and instead proposes inclusive, mobile infrastructures for dialogue and change. From Speaker’s Plinths to a Roundtable and a street auditorium, the installations encourage engagement with migration, public space, and collective identity. Installed during the London Festival of Architecture’s 20th anniversary, the platforms were later donated to community spaces Cody Dock and RUSS Lewisham.
