The brief from the client was to provide a home office space and an extended living area to the house which had a generous side garden but not a direct view of it

The side extension provides a flexible space with removable partition between living and office space. Each space flows into the other following the daily changing routine and uninterruptedly. Two generous openings facing East and West allow the extension to be crossed by direct sun light on the entire length at the sunrise and sunset, reaching the outdoor garden area.

Connections with the existing house are directly facing the south openings providing a view to the garden from the inner area of the existing house. External material as timber fence slats, London Smead dean brick, concrete have been used indoor to create an outdoor feeling, enhanced by the internal planting.

The richness of the interior space derives from the subtle contrast of textures and finishes, as the rustic brick wall, the polish concrete floor and soft timber. In the existing hallway same timber slats have been used to create a coat hanger area and a cladding for the refurbished cloak room, creating a warmer welcome to any new visitor.
