Whats the difference between a piece of sculpture and a piece of architecture?
Taking inspiration from Donald Judd, this 10 sq.m. garden cabin is clad in larch treated with Falu Red Natural matt wood paint from Sweden, with a green roof and red zinc parapets. The interior walls are clad in Osmo white Douglas Fir plywood. Located at the bottom of the garden, it reverses the typical architects commission of a rear extension and remodel, which is rarely viewed by the occupants themselves. A fully glazed mirror wall behind full height louvres reflects both sky and garden. Servicing a terraced stone landscape, it hints of sunnier climes giving the clients a place from which to watch the sun go down.
