Fully remodelled top floor flat, incorporating single storey rear glass extension at 1st floor balcony and full internal renovation works throughout

This top floor flat (over 1F & 2F levels) was purchased by a young couple who wanted to stay and grow a family life in their much loved Hackney community with an expected baby. Client's brief was to make the existing tiny second bedroom into a proper size (minimum 7 sqm) single room and to create a open and bigger Kitchen/Dining/Living space.

The local council did not support any extensions at roof level, which challenged the brief.

The uniquely contemporary new single storey frameless glass extension was inserted into the existing 1st floor level balcony space at rear, which blends in without causing negative bulky volume impacts at the street scene.

At 2nd floor level, the existing bathroom with no window was remodelled into a new narrow(Width 920mm) and long bathroom with a roof window at the back end, the Japanese style deep mini bath enable the client to enjoy the bath and shower within the limited amount of space. The entire bathroom space used dark grey theme colour incorporating dark-tinted mirror ceiling, which embraces its cosiness and natural light coming down from the roof window. Site team called it “church cathedral”
