Hampstead Apartment

The property is an old mansion flat built to house those in service in the Victorian era. The flat needed an update to allow modern living and to really exploit the potential of its proportions.

The design moved the living space to the front of the house, merging the kitchen and living room which were previously at opposite ends of the property into one open plan living area. Clever storage solutions including a retail-style walk in wardrobe and ‘capsule kitchen’ with a drawer fridge and open shelving help to further give the illusion of expansive space.

To give the kitchen a modern interior, the architects championed natural materials. Brass is the signature material for the kitchen and bathroom. The golden colour creates warm tones and is more tactile than a cold marble or granite worktop. In the bathroom the high quality brass and marble fittings contrast and complement one another evoking a sense of luxury in the everyday.

Elsewhere there are other more playful interiors. The hall is dominated by Beverly Hills Hotel style palm wallpaper and mid-century furniture successfully mixing together the flat’s existing period features and a more modern style of decor.
