Council building to house office space, a public library and a ‘customer-facing’ service centre overlooking the opened-up River Roch
The council building houses Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council’s 1,700 employees, formerly scattered across 33 different buildings, under a single roof.
A transparent facade leads to a five-storey, top-lit central street, that opens to the building's public functions, the library, service centre, meeting and conference rooms.
The open-sided atrium, which is criss-crossed with bridges is flanked by two Allen key-shaped blocks that contain four floors of open plan office space with the council room on the second floor.
