University facility that combines social activities, sports and events within a distinctive building envelope
Cityspace is built to a BREEAM Excellent standard, and comprises dining facilities, studios to hire, social spaces, and sports facilities.
The use of coloured glazing animates the white facades and creates a distinctive character to the internal spaces. The specification of denser, less translucent coloured panels also helps to alleviate solar gain on the southern elevation.
Consideration was given to the choice of internal doors - for instance, the sports hall doors use squash court ironmongery to eliminate protrusions that could cause injury or interfere with play.
