Extension to conference centre in London's Docklands to increase capacity by 50 per cent
ExCeL london is a world class exhibition and conference, venue and the client brief required a design which reflected this, while building on the versatility of the existing facilities.
Grimshaw's design for the extension provides 32,500m2 of flat floor, column-free exhibition space, with the potential to house a 5,000 seated convention venue.
These Phase II developments will take ExCel london to a total capacity of 1,000,000 square feet of flexible space, a 50 per cent increase on its current capacity. This will be complemented by a new 4,500m2 bespoke facilily, housing a breakout space and dedicated production kitchen capable of catering for up to 10,000 guests.
