Re-interpretation of the mews house typology in northwest London
A cantilevered welded steel frame box hovers over a solid brick podium providing a covered entrance to the street. Large expanses of glazing to the street and garden facades admit light deep into the plan, and draw in townscape views.
This glazing lights the first floor living spaces with bedrooms located below. This arrangement inverts the traditional mews house, making the most of the tight urban site.
