The concept of the new extension is that of a futuristic spaceship ‘pod’ landing in the rear garden

Expressed with the use of modern materials of reflective metal and glass t
ontrast with the historic materials of thatch and render, with the intention of making the new extension visually ‘disappear’ into its historic context and visually blur the boundaries between new and old when viewed externally whilst also reflecting the historic structure when viewed from within the Cottage. The intent is to give clear visual clarity between new and old so that each element can be read independently to articulate the historica
evelopment of the property
