Landsborough Gate
The project brief was to completely reimagine an existing two storey glazed conservatory
The conservatory lacked thermal separation, causing overheating in summer and heat loss in winter. The client sought a sustainable redesign while retaining the existing structure, including a glass floor. The solution reduced glazing by 50%, added high-performance wood fibre insulation, and clad the exterior in lightweight red zinc. Triple glazing and louvre vent doors improved ventilation, while projecting fins and retractable solar louvers provided shading. The conservatory was stripped to its steel frame, with a new timber-framed envelope and a centrally positioned glazed side door. The first floor was reconfigured into a master suite with an ensuite and dressing room. The result is a striking, energy-efficient transformation that enhances comfort, acoustics, and aesthetics through deep retrofit and sustainable materials.
