RALLY 2024 'AGNES'

Built in conjunction with Spirit Level AGNES is CAKE's second stage for RALLY, having designed and built Visionaire in 2023. Agnes is a multi-layer performance space built out of Layher scaffolding and clad in translucent fibreglass panels; a number of panels had red and blue vinyl applied, animating the stage's facade with a distinctive pattern. The stage took cues from and was named after Agnes Martin, the American abstract painter, with the overall composition resembling a giant canvas erected in the heart of Southwark Park. Using a rentable, demountable scaffolding system, the walls were elevated three metres off the ground, allowing the audience to flow freely into and around the stage. CAKE produce careful step-by-step construction packs, allowing for the stage to be disassembled and reformed in the summer year after year. AGNES will next be built for RALLY in August 2025.
