The ground and underground floors of this single-family home were extended and remodelled to create a fluid relationship between the main rooms: living room, dining room, terrace, kitchen, and playroom.

In order to accomplish this, internal partitions and the rear enclosure of the house were demolished, and a new larger porch was built at the rear facade. An unused sunken patio was also covered with a glass flooring, linking the playroom with the living room through new visual relations. The main goal of the design is to strike a balance between “spatial fluidity” and “spatial containment”. This is pursued by following two design approaches. The first is to grant the house's main structural elements some autonomy.

Pyramidal columns and a frieze made of IPN 600 beams are intentionally distinguished by their formal independence and visual weight. They anchor points of reference within a space which would otherwise be too wide and unhomely. The second design approach is to leave the limits of the house ambiguous. This is evident, for instance, in how the glass enclosure is superimposed over the glass floor covering the sunken patio and in the reflections and transparencies it creates. Another example is the line of elements previously embedded in the pre-existing wall (columns, downspouts, rise of installations). These are now voluntarily exposed to create a decomposed boundary which expands from that line of free-standing and heterogeneous elements to the new glass envelope.

Finally, a hedge, which is traditionally used to define limits in suburban areas, appears over the enclosure of the house itself, although this hedge must still grow to achieve the aforementioned effect.
