The fit-out of a hair salon in Liverpool city centre.
The practice was commissioned to design the flagship hairdressing salon for a start-up business within an existing building formerly used as a bank.
The premises was located on the outskirts of Liverpool city centre and unlike anything available within the area. The brief was to produce a high quality space with strong identity that would be achievable on a tight budget, by a small contractor.
The use of light and texture within a confined area, results in an elegant and simplistic design and the illusion of space.
The existing reinforced concrete safe was reused to accommodate back of house functions. A family of metal and glass objects were designed to create different zones and storage opportunities for styling equipment. A bespoke pegboard was designed for displaying photography and products which also separates the main salon from the wash station.
Efficiency in both planning and use was considered throughout the design development.
The project has strengthened the client’s brand to such an extent that within six months of opening they are already considering expansion plans.
