A visitor centre and shop within the Reid Building, providing a framed view of Mackintosh's Glasgow School of Art
The ‘Window on the Mack’ is a unique visitor’s centre that provides a framed view of the famous Mackintosh Art School and is located directly opposite the building.
It features an integrated display for visitors explaining the operational, the contextual, and the physical environments of the historical institution; whilst showcasing a selection of works by GSA alumni.
The exhibition and shop are the final phase of a larger conservation and access project. The exhibition is both contained within and imposed onto the furniture pieces; each element of furniture was designed in tandem with the exhibition and is constructed from oak, yellow pine, cypress and cedar, a palette which Mackintosh utilised to great effect within his School of Art building.
