Trucks on the ramp up to X2 warehouse

Industrial warehouse facility at Heathrow Airport over two storeys. Each level has its own service yard areas with upper level access via two one way ramps.
X2 is a two storey warehouse situated beside Heathrow airport. The warehouse is served by two access ramps dividing up-traffic from down-traffic. The building contains eight 6m high units, four on the ground floor level and four above, with office space is accommodated into the scheme.
A concern with the design was the angle and curve of the ramps. Specialist path-mapping software AutoTrack was used to calculate the curves and clearance heights.
There is a distinction between the steel frame construction of the warehouse and the concrete ramps. Where the two parts joined needed careful detailing to ensure the building stayed watertight.
