South Elevation looking into courtyard
Alan Williams (website) Download Original
Mixed-use supported housing scheme that comprises of new-build and refurbished accommodation
The scheme provides 55 residents’ rooms, with office accommodation, multipurpose communal spaces, training cafe, IT suite training facility and a gymnasium.
The repetition in the plan lent itself to modular construction that made use of precast concrete floors and walls, as well as off-site fabricated bathroom and kitchen pods.
The external facade is clad in stacked terracotta rainscreen panels and full-length closed cell polycarbonate rainscreen panels. The majority of timber and aluminium composite windows are set flush to the face of the rainscreen cladding.
In the courtyard, angled bays are incorporated into the facade providing views for the occupants while maintaining privacy for the rooms opposite.
