Modernising and refurbishing a Victorian townhouse to make it fit for contemporary life while retaining it's original features and character
This Victorian townhouse featured some striking and beautiful original features. However, many of these made for an impractical living area and did not accommodate some of the comforts of modern life. Over the course of four years, we gave the property a modern makeover, ensuring we retained its original character and features. In order to turn the property into a fully functioning family home we installed extra bathrooms to complement the five bedrooms.
The small existing kitchen became a contemporary, modern space with a traditional family dining area to one side. The first floor now boasts a master suite with a range of rooms stemming from the main bedroom, including a bathroom, reading room and dressing area. We also updated the exterior of the house using green and cream paintwork, retaining the original side gate. The finished property is proving to be a local landmark, enjoyed by the family and the local community.
