Secure building in an agressive climate to house the diplomatic missions of Germany, Netherlands, the European Union and the British High Commission
Built to European standards, in one of the poorest countries of the world, the architect has created acceptable internal conditions, with due regard to sustainable energy sources, in an extremely aggressive climate.
The 7000m2 building employs passive environmental controls to maintain comfortable naturally ventilated interior spaces.
To prevent overall heat gain the design has a floating solar roof and external louvres to three elevations. Materials were sourced locally wherever possible and supported by local agents and contractors.
