Haroldville Avenue is a concrete extension of a house of the early twentieth century in southern Dublin
At the rear of the home, a modest new single concrete extension adjoins the old house to provide a new large living, kitchen and dining space fills the entire width of the site, leading into the protruding extension with a big window around. The expanded living areas all spill out onto a gravel patio through some large windows and an adjacent door.
The Patio is the space that joins the new extension and a new external door that connects to an adjacent street creating a circular flow in the project. This cohesion between the old and new is further expressed in the concrete and in glass highlighting the old house creating a contrast with the new materials. Above, the more private first floor and a houses two bedroom and bathroom spaces, accessed via a staircase at the main entrance of the home. Finally ending with an attic with an ensuite bedroom.
