Crisp detailing of the glazed foyer link, the stone facades and the roofs contrasts with the vernacular form

Music centre with facilities including an 80 seat recital room, classrooms, practice rooms, recording, performance and variable acoustic studios, surrounded by historical buildings in the centre of Uppington
The recital hall, as close to a cube in volume as possible for acoustic reasons, has a large north-facing window and a small clerestory in one corner. A timber floor was designed to enable musicians to 'feel' the music.
Practice and teaching rooms on the upper two floors are organised along corridors that have big windows at either end and, in one case, a view into the recital hall.
The new music centre is an addition to the school's existing music facilities. The site is a few hundred yards from the town’s historic market square and within a conservation area.
