Sports centre designed to provide training facilities for Olympic and national teams, coaches and clubs
The sports centre is set in parkland in the Crystal Palace park alongside an athletics stadium.
Internally the square building is split in two by the concrete spinal frame that runs down the centre of the building and supports the cantilevered steel roof trusses. This spine contains the main concourse which divides the building's two main functions, the swimming pool and the main arena.
On one side of the building a 1,706 seat gallery overlooks the Olympic size swimming pool, training pool and diving pool. While on the other side of the building the spaces under the main arena are occupied by the changing rooms. Size Squash courts are placed under the main concourse.
