Office building located ajacent to the National Assembly for Wales' Senedd Building, forming part of the Cardiff Bay Waterside Estate
The 6,155m2, five-storey building delivers a flexible design and at the time of its completion was Wales’ largest eco-friendly speculative office development.
Client, Aviva Investors required a ‘statement building’ designed to be exemplar, in terms of architecture, sustainability and as a commercial office development.
The building, which features a biomass boiler, chilled beams and rainwater harvesting, achieved a BREEAM rating of ‘Excellent’ six months before practical completion, with a score of 75.52 and was commended in the BREEAM Awards Wales 2009.
The atrium features a sculpture by artist Claire Morgan called ‘Pressure Makes Diamonds’, which uses coal and iron to represent the industrial history of Cardiff Docks.
