Primary school for 600 pupils that is split into two buildings linked by a glazed bridge
The school is divided by substantial house located halfway down the length of the site. The position of this house set the design thinking for the school. The administration, school dining and sports hall are placed in a block located near the street facade, connected by a slender glazed bridge to the main school block, which stands in a park setting.
Classrooms in the teaching block are arranged around double height social area, with large windows offering views onto the surrounding parkland and the river Kelvin. The two-story block steps down following the slope of the site to a single story where the nursery is housed.
The school is naturally ventilated through beehive ventilation chimneys on a sedum roof.
