Library for a London primary school
West Drayton Primary School, just north of Heathrow Airport, approaches teaching and learning creatively by 'drawing on the narrative power of stories'. The practice intended to celebrate this with a space 'that champions and focuses on the adventure and pleasure of reading'
Red on the outside and with a palisade crown to give height to work with the existing buildings, the timber-clad box with an exposed glulam frame rises into a top-lit pyramidal roof
The frame doubles as bookshelving, and the intimate space it encloses can be used for classes, or one-to-one sessions.
