Housing development with a mixed tenure of social rent, shared equity and private for sale properties, in a group of three brick clad blocks
The scheme sits at the edge of Govan town centre and consists of 37 units for rent, 30 for sale and 12 for shared equity.
The development is split into three blocks: a six-storey block with a new public square and a rooftop pavilion; a curved five-storey block linked to an existing stone tenement building; and a cresecent-shaped lower-density block featuring a mixture of four storey flats and terraced houses.
The facade of the six-storey block skews away from the pavement line, allowing views to the historic Potted Heid tenement and creating a square.
The terrace block adjoins the Potted Heid's gable and follows the curve of the road, the granite base and string course of the Potted Heid is reflected in the new block with the use of polished block and precast stringcourse. The flats are accessed from a south facing external balcony and secure parking and amenity space has been created to the rear of the development.
The crescent reduces in scale from a four storey flatted block, at the Potted Heid end, to two storey housing set within a crescent creating a public space.
A simple palette of materials has been used throughout, a multi-hued brick, polished block and gold aluminium cladding were all selected to reflect and compliment the materials, textures and colours of the local historic context.
