Internal courtyard view

Conversion of two office buildings into a residential complex with a central courtyard and restaurant space at ground and basement levels
The Writers, a residential project in the City of London, takes its name from the nearby market. The complex features a mixture of studio, one and two bed apartments, the majority of which are dual aspect to allow the maximum amount of daylight into each unit.
The apartments incorporate prefabricated kitchen and bathroom pods and have a high performing thermal envelope. Access to each unit is from the corridor adjacent to the central core, with sleeping spaces at courtyard level and living spaces on the street elevations.
External walls facing the internal courtyard are clad in Parklex facade timber panels and timber fins screen the glazed stairwells. The original Middlesex Street facade has been retained.
