This project involved the renovation of the façade of a listed building in a conservation area in the town centre of an ancient Royal Burgh in the north of Scotland.

For fifty years the frontage had been obscured behind a veil of plywood. This project uncovered and sympathetically restored the building frontage revealing the beauty lying beneath. It also replaced a decayed stone pillar ensuring the balcony could rest on a sure foundation again. The stonework was cleaned and the grime of a century and a half removed. The entire frontage was re-glazed after a small proportion of the timber frame damaged in a lightning strike was replaced. Inside the job saw asbestos removed in a controlled and safe way under the guidance of our HSE advisor. The grid connection for electrical power was restored and the pipework for a water supply was put in place.
