The project involves the refurbishment on an existing space at Millenium Point in Birmingham
Both spaces were part of the original Grimshaw Architects design. The brief for the project was to create a new incubation space including reception, breakout spaces, offices and meeting rooms for start up businesses along with a venue space. These became titled WorkSpace and Platform.
The client considered the existing spaces to be dark and uninviting. In response to these we created an architectural language which created a modern and light interior. The new architectural interventions integrated were to be bold and create a new architectural language in response to the original design. This manifested into bespoke joinery items, light fitting and surfaces where wall and ceiling elements folded into each other. Solid surface materials were used to create the architecture.
Workspace included a new reception and breakout spaces along with various informal and formal meeting spaces and 30 desk spaces. Platform included a new venue space for up to 300 people.
'Lucas Architects have revitalised the existing spaces with a modern and unique interior which creates fantastic spaces for new start up business. A bright, modern and wonderful place to work' - CEO Millennium Point
