Ridgeway Pavilion is part of Waltham Forest Council’s ambitious arts and cultural programme known as Making Places.

Fifteen sites were nominated by local residents who suggested ways their local area could be improved. DAA studio’s winning proposal is a park pavilion, designed to accommodate a range of community activities such as music performances, plays and parties. The tradition of the park bandstand or kiosk was taken as a starting point for the design. It is an open timber structure, placed at the top of a gentle slope giving it a vantage across the park. The unusually tall roof and large tiles abstract the familiar image of the bandstand into something which is particular but still recognisable as a focal point for community activities.
